General entry for SunSmart Ironman Western Australia 2011 opened at 10am AEDT on Wednesday with a rush of entries upon opening. More than 600 general entries were received in the first 20 minutes alone and led to the fastest sell-out of an Ironman event in Australian history. On top of that, the two provided Western Australia with a rare “hometown double.” Bevilaqua hails from Perth, while Ogden grew up in a small farming town just two hours from the race site.
