3.8km Swim: The one lap swim for the 2010 Ironman Western Australia triathlon will take place in the stunning Geographe Bay around the iconic and newly renovated Busselton Jetty. The 3.8km course starts on the right hand (eastern) side of the Jetty (the opposite of previous years) on the beach in front of the Goose Café. NB: the Jetty faces due North. It will be a deep water start and swimmers will follow the line of the Jetty right to the end and then go past the end for approximately 70 metres where they will turn left, swim to the opposite (western) side of the Jetty and make their way to shore following most of the line of the Jetty on the western side until the bend/elbow of the Jetty but then continue away from the Jetty, but still on the same straight line, to the beach exiting the water near the small jetty which will be on the left hand/eastern side of the exit. Competitors will run from the beach up and past the Equinox Restaurant (which will be on their left) and make their way across to Signal Park for the first transition from swim-to-bike.

180.2km Bike: The new bike course for 2010 will use a new road which eliminates the 3.5km section of the Busselton Bypass Freeway as in previous years. Competitors begin the bike course from the new Transition/Bike Compound located in Signal Park (bordered by Marine Terrace, West and Queen Streets). Leaving Signal Park at the Marine Terrace exit they start on Marine Terrace and continue along the Terrace, through the Queen Street roundabout and along to the Carey Street roundabout. They will now turn RIGHT at the roundabout and onto Carey Street and proceed south along to Peel Street for the LEFT turn. Peel Street becomes Layman Road after a short distance and competitors continue then east along Layman Road and at approximately the 10km mark from the start they will now turn LEFT onto Forest Beach Road (the new section) and proceed along this Road for 5kms to the end of the bitumen for the first turnaround. NB: The first Aid Station will be located at approximately 3.5kms on this road. Competitors should take care at the single lane bridge a short distance in from Layman Road. After making the Forest Beach Road turnaround competitors return back to Layman Road and turn LEFT and proceed to the Tuart Drive/Layman Road roundabout for the next LEFT turn onto Tuart Drive. They then continue along Tuart Drive to the second turnaround just before the Busselton Bypass Freeway which is approximately 33kms from the start. The return continues back west along Tuart Drive past the Layman Road roundabout and along to the third turnaround (45km mark) at the intersection of Tuart Drive and Rushleigh Road (approximately 1.5kms from the Layman Road roundabout). The return then is back on Tuart Drive to the Layman Road roundabout for the next LEFT turn back onto Layman Road. Staying on Layman Road back to Carey Street they turn RIGHT and along to Marine Terrace for a LEFT turn and back to the Queen Street roundabout for the final turnaround to complete the first of the 3 laps over the same course. On completion of the third lap competitors turn RIGHT at the Marine Terrace/ Queen Street roundabout and proceed along to the end of Queen Street (heading north towards the ocean) to the finish line beside Signal Park for their second transition from bike-to-run.

42.2km Run: After dismounting their bikes competitors will veer left into transition to change race clothing for the run leg that takes in the beautiful Busselton Geographe Bay foreshore. Leaving the transition marquee competitors run down beside the bike compound and turn left onto the same swim-to-bike exit, at Marine Terrace and head along on the Terrace to the Queen Street roundabout and turn right and run up Queen Street on the right hand side of the roadway to the first turnaround at the junction of Queen and Duchess Streets. They return down Queen Street still on the right hand side to Marine Terrance and turn left at the roundabout and back along to the Signal Park exit point and make a right turn back into the Park and across through the transition area at the end of the bike compound heading towards the ocean. Once through the Park competitors turn left through the bank of trees and onto the small footpath beside the car park and continue along Geographe Bay Road on this pathway (which widens after a short distance) and head west to the King Street intersection and then coming off the footpath at this point proceeding RIGHT and into the Car Park where the second turnaround point is located. NB: The first Run Aid Station is located at this turnaround which is the 2km mark. Competitors then return along Geographe Bay Road but still on the wide footpath to where this ends and then veer left onto the roadway of the car park on the southern (Signal Park) side and proceed along the car park on the roadway to the Equinox Restaurant and where they veer left back onto the footpath and continue along in front of the Restaurant as in previous years and still on the footpath proceed past the Jetty on the left and in front of the Goose Restaurant and continue along the footpath beside Geographe Bay Road to the third turnaround located at the intersection of Morgan Street which is at the 6.9km mark of the run.

Competitors are then directed off the footpath right across onto Geographe Bay Road and keeping on the northern/Ocean side of the roadway make the return journey back to Signal Park. At the Geographe Bay/Scout Road intersection and where Geographe Bay Road begins to veer left, competitors are directed through the car park and behind the Goose Restaurant ( not in front as in previous years) and back onto the foreshore footpath at the Jetty. They then follow the bottom pathway behind the Equinox Restaurant (not in front as in previous years) and continue on the pathway near the end of Queen Street (bike finish location) and along still on the small footpath between Signal Park on the left and the car park on the right and under the tree line. At about the midway point of the Park on the left, competitors are directed left back through the trees and into the Park and transition/bike compound area to the same exit point on Marine Terrace again where they will repeat the same course along Marine Terrace right into Queen Street and heading up to the turnaround point at Queen and Duchess Streets which starts the second of the 4 laps. NB: The exit point at Marine Terrace is the 10.5 km mark of the run leg. After the 4th and final lap competitors will exit at Signal Park again onto Marine Terrace and proceed for the 5th time up Queen Street on the right hand side but only to the intersection with Adelaide Street where they are directed to the left hand side of the Queen Street roadway and onto the carpeted finish chute to the finish line at Duchess Street beside the turnaround point on the right.
